Released only a few months after Coast, ST.E.W expands the band's experimental approach even further. The album consists entirely of instrumental compositions that place greater emphasis on evolving textures, extended structures and immersive sound design.

The production reflects a period of rapid learning and creative exploration. New experiences in arranging, mixing and sound processing shaped the record, resulting in longer, more atmospheric pieces that are less concerned with conventional songwriting than with creating evolving sonic environments.
