Music without a frame
The 'no frame' of the title describes an open approach to making music without conceptual barriers. The Modular Beat experimented freely in every direction, allowing more immediate, pop-oriented songs to alternate with long psychedelic and experimental pieces. New instruments enter the arrangements and continually change their mood.
There are no guardrails and no obligation to protect a fixed style. Free improvisation becomes both a method and an attitude, summed up by the simple motto: 'It is only music.' That freedom allows the album's contrasting forms to coexist without being forced into a single pattern.
The lyrics resemble fragments of an inner monologue in which perception, memory and language keep changing. Rather than follow a linear narrative, they work through loose associations, recurring words and dreamlike images. Meaning emerges through atmosphere and emotional resonance instead of explicit statements.
A search for orientation in a world without stable reference points lies at the centre of the record. Lyrical figures observe, hope, wander and wait without arriving at a final place. Paths, landscapes, water, roofs and open spaces become psychological thresholds, giving the album a persistent sense of transition.
Images of washing away, disappearing and concealment sit beside fleeting anchors such as keys, awareness and hope. Dissolution and renewal remain inseparable: nothing stays fixed, yet instability makes new perspectives possible. Fragmented syntax and altered word combinations preserve that openness, allowing sound, rhythm and association to take precedence over conventional logic.
Beneath the abstraction is an emotional current of melancholy, uncertainty and quiet hope. Familiar and strange, concrete and remote, the album leaves traditional songwriting behind to create impressionistic snapshots of a consciousness in motion.
