The final songs, left deliberately raw

Rehearsals collects recordings made in the rehearsal room during the final creative phase of Die Engineers. Rough and largely untreated, they document the last group of songs the band continued to develop until 2012. The purpose is less a flawless studio production than a necessary completion of the band's recorded work.

The lyrics describe a world shaped by control, manipulation and social power, set against a desire for self-determination and individual freedom. War, oppression, censorship and ideological pressure become images of systems that attempt to govern thought and action. Destruction, marching, silence and blindness create a persistent sense of threat.

Personal relationships bring another kind of vulnerability. Admiration and closeness coexist with dependence, self-doubt and fear of loss. Love is not presented as certainty, but as a space in which idealisation and emotional distance continually meet.

Against these darker themes stands an insistence on action: speak dreams aloud, tear down walls and question inherited conditions. Revolution functions less as a fixed political programme than as the courage to overcome passive habits and reclaim one's own voice. Clear statements, short fragments and mantra-like repetition bind the personal and political themes to the music's raw energy.
