Wétiko

Greed, excess and the collective mind

Wétiko is a conceptual release built around greed, destruction and excess. Its title draws on the idea of wétiko as a destructive spirit or mind virus: an image for a hunger that can no longer recognise limits and spreads from the individual into the collective.

The album approaches this condition as a form of shared delusion. Repetition, pressure and unresolved tension create the sense of a system caught in its own compulsions, while electronic textures and live instrumentation continually shift between control and instability.

Vocals are used sparingly and are often reduced to short, recurring mantras. Rather than carrying a linear narrative, the words function as rhythmic and psychological signals. Their circular form reinforces the album's concern with obsession, contagion and behaviour that repeats itself even as its consequences become visible.

The language remains deliberately open and associative. Images of consumption, power and inner unrest form an atmosphere rather than a fixed argument, leaving the listener to connect personal desire with wider patterns of collective excess and destruction.
